Hootsy, Inc. + GDPR

Effective Date: July 1, 2022

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) became effective and enforceable on the May 25, 2018. If you are a resident of the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights, covered by the GDPR.

Data We Collect and Store

Hootsy collects, processes and stores Personal Data about people who chat with the customer using Hootsy. Hootsy does not sell any contact data collected on behalf of the customer or market Hootsy services to the customer’s site visitors.

Categories of data subjects:

  • Customer’s employees or other authorized users of Hootsy
  • Customer’s end-user customers

Categories of Personal Data:

  • Name
  • Contact information (company, phone number and email address)
  • IP Address - Hootsy only uses IP address to identify country and country subdivision.
  • Cookie data - Hootsy only uses cookies to track the activities of your site visitors within your site. Hootsy will not track across domains of different customers or build profiles.

How we comply with the GDPR

Data Security

In accordance with Article 32 of the GDPR, we put in place appropriate measures to keep your data secure. All data is securely stored in Amazon Web Services. See the AWS Security Page for additional information.

Consent

You can pass a consent flag to Hootsy or collect consents via chat prior to collecting email address or additional personal data.

Honoring Data Subject Rights

We have processes in place to honor data subject requests. Hootsy will export, correct, or delete contact data upon request by the customer. If we receive a request directly from a data subject, we will work with the customer to honor the request.

Sub-processors

We have a process in place to ensure that we only trust parties who have stringent standards regarding the safety and security of personal data.
